As an individual creating refreshingly new and hip cutting edge mainstream styles ~ The kind she wanted to see and wear. The kind that no one else was designing, creating or making! ~ Colour rich street cred cool, funky, chic sophisticated, clubbing styles ~ Revamped latex’s image, elevating it’s status to having an identity in it own right ~ Offering this vibrant fetish fabric as an experience everyone could get into! ~ Changed the dynamics from underground precious secret, to mainstream freaker outer ……..
….. *:* ….. at a time when the division between the fashion industries and sexual tastes, were at opposite ends of the spectrum, very deeply ingrained with extreme prejudice, fear, judgement, elitism, dislike, bad attitudes, bias, non-tolerance and/or acceptance, to name but a few of the driving forces keeping them apart.
Into many scenes and loving latex, Elisabeth saw a path to the evolution and transition of the last of the taboo fabrics and the future of Rubber Zoo. Her concept being to offer the opportunity to those who didn’t wish to enter into the fetish underground scenes, the wonders of this magical material and the chance to enjoy it’s intoxicating pleasures anywhere and in any way they wish, without being overtly fetishistically latex clad.
A new and foreign journey had been embarked pretty much on every level. Mainly surrounded by people and environments based on greed, restraint and control; full of bondaged souls dancing in their delusional idea of being “FREE”, limited by hypocritical B.S. radiating from the very essence of their core ~ Nearly everyone wanting our Designs, Ideas, Energy, Time, Passion, kitchen sink and bedroom pleasures + everything else for ~ FREE (as we don’t have any bills or expenses!) ~ a few like minded people came together creating a wave of positive friendly, educational and liberating change for all spectra of society.
Inadvertently our approach influenced the fetish, fashion and sex industries/worlds and had a significant role in the wave of change that was taking place in the UK’s last sexual revolution.
Are we proud of ourselves? You fucking bet we are! One way or another, it’s been plain hard work for 16 years and tough every step of the way. A mind blowing insight into areas of humanness most would not dear to tread.
Ignorance, ignorant arrogance, greed, fear and jealousy, are within any and all areas of society; especially in business where sexuality meets vanity. So we suggest those sharing any of these traits mentioned, should let those with the vision, ideas, talent, skill, designs, personality, experience and willingness to make a genuinely better world (for more people, including themselves), get on and do so, with genuine people who wish to see the same! The world would be more interesting and pleasant for the many, a lot faster!
Cultural Evolution Vision + Motivation = Activation + Resounding Dedication + Willingness to Sacrifice = Experience Real Pain,
of a handful of people who see:~ something different/more, another/better way, up for change, free of baggage and ready to move mountains, coming together with like minded people (hopefully having fun) = Cultural Evolution
To those who see, it makes sense and sounds great. They embrace change almost instantaneously, taking forth the new/fresh ideas to people within all spectra of society they flow with (when possible). However, many don’t feel comfortable with change or anything different from that they can relate to, (especially with sexuality in the UK and individual expressionism everywhere else), so feel it’s their right to make it as difficult for those who see things differently, where ever possible, even more so if it may effect their income! What this means is, for the ones at the very core of paving a new way (in many cases just do what they do best and enjoying as much as possible {why else do something} and make a living from it), creating the markets changing purchasing habits, comes at a very high price in every respect!
We didn’t see or know many people, rushing to put their neck on the line to bring forth these positive changes. Nor were there many who wished to genuinely help us create it! Most stayed securely within the confines of the fetish, fashion or sex industries until the hard work had been done, then strolled out to take the lime light.
We see this as a typical boring business strategy, a dark ages approach, and the people who use this method of business advancement (in our view) are dull, boring and very tiresome. But then that’s just our opinion, and who are we anyway!
The nature of man has been the same for over 700 century’s. Human society likes to think of itself as modern, advanced and superior to all other forms of life, that is/has ever has been including all the ancient cultures! We strongly disagree. If we were living in such an advanced manner, real change (generally taking between 15-20 years to be fully integrated within society, fact, and from our experience) would only take a few months. The battle for change against the minds of the power hungry, wishing to stay in positions of power, ever continues on a treadmill.
The modern ego based narcissistic personality, encapsulating no morals or scruples, and who hate (usually secretly) those who come along with anything/everything they do/are not (naturally), thus inducing the Green Eyed Monster to do what it does best (try to destroy good people and their career, whilst bastardizing their good ideas and cashing in on the returns), is finally being seen for what it is. 2012 brings forth change on a much grander scale than that of any humans ability to enforce.
The time of the hypocrites, thieves, liars, cheats, backstabbers, oppressors, sluts and talentless designer / artist “fraudster” fuc*s ~ with huge egos ~ posing as cool amazing out there treasures, with something of value to offer and are the market leaders, we know the truth! ~ (the quick path to the top:~ arse~licking, sexual favors, and/or had your life handed to you on a platter because you’ve done what is expected of you, ie: maluable to be manipulated in many ways!) Remember we’ve been there too and chances are quite high it was before you!
Who thought we’d be saying such things back in 1996, when we were fresh faced, bright eyes, bushy tailed, innocent, motivated, vibrant, full of energy, trusting and fresh young creatives, who saw a new way, a more refreshed fun amazing way, for so many more to explore and experience the wonderful world of latex without the debilitating stigma attached ~ freely and openly!
And now we ask ourselves; in truth, was it all worth it?
What an arduous and very enlightening journey from 1996 to 2012 on many levels we’ve had. Thank you to everyone who has crossed our path ~ friend or foe. You’ve helped our evolution to become the best we can and will be!
